The Live For Me Foundation
The Live For Me Foundation was created in response to the life and loss of Eddie Kaufman, who was described as someone who consistently strengthened their community through kindness, integrity, humility, perseverance, and service to others. Eddie was a scholar-athlete who later faced Stage IV T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Even during treatment, Eddie focused on encouraging and supporting other patients, leaving a deep impact on many people.
Before Eddie passed away, his final message to Eddie’s parents was: “Live for me.” The foundation was conceived to carry that message forward—transforming Eddie’s legacy into ongoing support for others through scholarships and community giving.
The Live For Me Foundation aims to honor Eddie Kaufman’s legacy by investing in the local community through scholarships and community-focused initiatives. Its goals include:
- Provide scholarships to students who demonstrate strong moral character, compassion for others, community involvement, and determination despite challenges
- Support broader community needs and positive local initiatives, with decisions guided by the foundation’s board.
- Assist other nonprofits and strengthen community-centered programs
- Raise significant funds to sustain its impact (a stated fundraising goal of $100,000 by the end of 2026).
