Why Clayton Bourges chose to sponsor Anthony Goodesmith and American Veterans of World War II. 

I am proud to support the Veterans of Foreign Wars (AmVets) Post 12 Washington, D.C. project because it is an opportunity to honor, respect, and recognize the men and women who have served our country and sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms.

My father and my father-in-law were both World War II veterans. My father served in the United States Navy, while my father-in-law served in the United States Army. Both men carried with them stories of sacrifice, courage, perseverance, and triumph—stories that I heard, admired, and deeply respected.

As I reflect on their service, I am continually reminded of their valor in the face of adversity and their unwavering commitment to our country, even under the most difficult circumstances. Their generation understood that freedom comes with a price, and they were willing to make extraordinary sacrifices so that future generations could live with greater opportunity, security, and freedom.

These veterans are heroes to me. Their sacrifices were not simply moments in history; they helped shape the lives we enjoy today. Supporting the VFW Post 12 project is my way of saying thank you—to my father, my father-in-law, and to all veterans who have served our nation with courage and honor.
